Entry #9 - Junk food ads trigger positive emotions
Junk food ads trigger positive emotions, healthy foods not so much
Hello guys! I was surfing the web today and this really interesting picture and article that got me thinking. It's about how we make choices about food, especially when we see certain ads.
Ads vs. Reality
This image is very curious, a boy is looking at a juicy hamburger while he's eating healthy. When I clicked the image, I realized that the University of Michigan was talking about this image! It says that when we see ads for junk food, we feel all these good vibes, but when it's ads for healthy stuff, it doesn't hit us the same way.
Junk Food Advertising
It's kind of funny how that works. You can be sitting there with your fruits or veggies, but then you see an ad for a pizza or a cheeseburger, and suddenly your food doesn't look so exciting anymore. Those ads have loud music, bright colors, and sometimes even your favorite celebrities. They're not just selling food; they're selling fun.
Rethinking Our Food Choices
But here's the kicker: the article made me wonder why that is. Why are we attracted to foods solely because of good advertising? And what can we do about it? We could try to make healthy food ads just as fun. I would love to see an ad that makes a salad look as good as a McDonald's burger.
I'd love to know what you think about this. Have you ever changed what you eat because of an ad? Do you find it difficult to choose vegetables instead of snacks? Leave a comment below!

Nice blog, I agree I think for me I struggle with veggies because I have always seen it as a side most of the time salt, pepper and butter. So, to think of a vegetable as a main meal seems foreign. Mcdonalds is a weak spot for me nostalgic and quick and feeling when I see the French fries on tv is an instant switch for me.
ReplyDeleteI like how you presented your information. The subheading made it easier to know what the blog was about to be about. The image you inserted here was very captivating and made your readers understand fast food's enormous impact on us while we try to select healthier options.
